rewired car alt..
« on: September 05, 2007, 10:48:09 AM »
heres the origanal windings[one phase][wave]

new windings[wave]

now the cut in speed is a lot lower[dont have to pedal as fast]..

and the power out put is more in line with a pedgen..[with a lower speed as well]

im still testing it out[field load]more later......

i have a 4hp ac motor 24 slots--wave winding should work on it as well..

any one try wave winding on a motor conversion????????

Very nice!  Looks professional.  I notice that the wire is colored.  What did you use for wiring?  How many magnets is on your rotor?

Thanks.

thats a stock rotor-electric mag.--no batt. was used at any time..

this started out as expermint seeing what i could get out of a stock car alt..

check my diarys-[pedgens]

but i went ahead and rewired --just to see what diffrance that would make..

-results were easyer cut in speed--and a slower rate of pedalling at a workin rate.

i had to use a 30watt. bulb on the field for this, only had to use a taillight bulb on stock alt.[ the bulbs are used as a simple regulator]

ALL in ALL--it would be easyer just to use a tread mill motor[or others] for a pedgen..

its kind of a hassle to hook up all the extras[solinode-right bulb size] just to get the same amount of power output at the same load and pedal rate..

the stock car alt CAN put out a ton of power--its all up to how hard you can pedal.

thats plastic coated insulated wire i used-just what i had laying around..

worked out fine for a human powered alt-theres now way i could have gotten the FULL power out of the big wire they use in stock alts[not on a pedgen]...

well thats about it for car alts --think its time to move on........................?
