A year of monitoring
« on: March 11, 2010, 03:50:44 PM »
The wireless router based controller and monitor I've had on my 3m mill is now a year old. Based on an average charge voltage of 26v and discharge voltage of 24v the 17,440 amp/hrs going in and 16.02 amp/hrs coming out of the battery bank gives me the figures of 450kW hours in, 385kW hours out.

I was hoping for the magic half megawatt but not far off.

In the year it was only down for a couple of days to rebalance the blades but thats all. It has survived 100km winds (which produced over 2.25kw instantaneous power) and the only issue so far is that it sounds like the tip of one of the blades has split and its 'feathering' at high speed. Time for a service I think!!

Two days ago was one of those ideal wind generation days - good steady 25-30km/hr winds which produced over 5kw/hrs - 5 hours extra filtering of the water in the swimming pool :-)

Ah, good stuff.

Yes, those chunky 'MWh' (and significant parts thereof) feel like real energy!

I wish my site were good for wind... %-P

Nice job!  I also wish I was in a windier place.  I am still going for 1/2 kwh  :)  It would probably help if I had a battery bank other than my 4-wheeler and some AA's.

As for the 2250 watts, that is amazing!
