Two Gennys in series???
« on: October 04, 2005, 04:08:36 PM »
I have been reading the boards, and think it would be alright to do but I want to ask before I do.

Can I run my 2 Ametek wind gennys in series?? They are both the exact same PM motors.

I don't want to if there is some hidden reason not to.

Not a good idea unless you link them mechanically to turn at the same speed.

If you use separate props the output of the lowest will dictate the current, when one sees wind and the other doesn't the results will be poor and you may not reach cut in volts. It is a bit like non identical solar panels in series.

One may spend some time motoring and defeat the efforts of the other.
