Wondering what the rules were for the solar ovens. From the pictures most look about the same, reg box solar ovens with the side reflectors. Any body use a parabolic mirror to cook with? The web page says so little about the solar cooking and so much about the music.

What did you cook last year to win your title? In Scouts I used to tell'em the secret to solar cooking was sun and patience. Good luck this year.

Looks to far to go for me, but I was thinking 12' satalite dish and a side of beef.

Or maybe go whole hog on a 10' dish, puns intended :)

Sounds like fun though, good luck, hope you win again.

seriously get a box about 12" long, 6" wide, at least 1" deep. wouldn't go more then 4" deep.

line it along with the inside of the top flap.

use a hot to hold the hot dog.

use the mirror to focus the sun into the box, the dog will be burnt in about 5 - 10 minutes. a little longer if it's slightly cloudy.

I did the above for daughter's science project. burnt the dog while everyone else's was cold and undone even though their boxes were lined with aluminum foil. (they didn't have a magnifying mirror)

I'll be using a minivan to bake a roast next weekend if sun out out like today.

Tesing solar panel output today I found a spot in the drive sun hits all day, laid a solar panel on the roof (at an angle so heat could escape) and a SLA battery I wanted to charge inside. With windows down and door open I am baking myself while testing the amps and volts and such of the panel.

Must be 100-120F inside with windows down!

Will easily be converted to a solar still for alky feul later I think! Would certainly be a good solar dehydrater for making deer jerky if I had any deer meat!
