18' diameter blades for a school project
« on: May 18, 2005, 11:58:57 PM »
Hi,

Here they are, 3 blades prop for a student project. After seeing my website they contact me if I would help them with blade design. So after 2 weeks of hard work and calculations, we came up with these blades.

Picture taken before going to a "Cegep". Electronic students made a controller to produce a perfect sine wave compatible with are Hydro Quebec company, from a 5.5 kw induction motor and a 9 to 1 gearbox, so if one day Hydro buy electricity from small wind power, those students will be ready. It is working in the lab, now the real test will be from the roof of the science school building, it as to be powered by a 3 blades prop.

Final test will be next week, I will have pictures and stories to tell later this month.

I'm now working on two 2.2 kwatts dual rotor generator

  1. coils stator with #14 wire, 84 turns, 3 phases and 16 magnets poles.
  2. blades 12' diameter prop

The next link is my last year 1.4 kw genny

Wow! Very impressed with all your projects! Just wondered about the advantages of the 4 blade system, Is it worth all the extra work?Do they balance out fairly easy? Nice job on everything.

The 4 blades are more work, balancing is the same, I will be able to compare after testing with a 3 blade 12' diameter prop very soon.
