Sorry bout the post above. Its the only way I know to coment without getting snubed by the coment thingy.
I bought this tower from an old radio amature. It was originally 70 ft free standing. I've got 40 ft of it. This 40 ft part has been up 12 years. It was originaly built in the 70s.
The first pix show the small platform and crankup system. The old guy had a monster beem antenna with a rotor on this thing.
It originaly had a 10ft saquare 4ft deep cement base. My base is only 4ft square and 28" deep.
You can see however I've anchored it to my shop at the first 10ft mark. The shop is made of 6X6 ruff cut treated timbers so its very strong. This tower ain't goin nowere.
The crankup platform has another mast support 4 ft above the lower platform. This thing is awsome. I'll be able to rais and lower my genny any time and never leave the ground.
You just crank it up to the top, you'll hear a click then back off a little and its locked at the top. To bring it down you just crank a little, there another click then just uncrank it down.
I tested its lifting ability. I was standinding on the platform and lifting myself up, 225 lbs.
Just mounted a 22" X 36" X 6" metal junction box on the shop wall next to the tower. No pics on that yet.
Inside the box I've mounted a row of twelve 25 amp fullwave bridges on a large heatsink. There is also fusing and gold distrobution blocks.
A frend gave me 200ft of 2ga. X 4 power cable. Its like a giant extension cord. This runs from this box to the battery bank at the other end of the shop. A distance of 60 ft. This is a 48 volt system so I'm thinking the doubled up 2 ga. is plenty.
