« on: January 07, 2005, 06:21:09 AM »
The glue will be dry tommorow.  Got to mod the stator now. This motor comversion will have wood end caps.

Its a 1 hp 120v 4 pole single phase. When done I will compair its power to the same motor with curved NEOs.

Pix in a day or 2.

Hi Hiker

Sorry no pitures yet. Its a 1 hp garbage disposal motor. Built from scratch plywood end caps. Bearings from Lowes .625 bore ($5.97 each) they also have the same shaft matereal.

I also used some square washers from from Lowes from there cement construction area.

These washers are 1/4" thick 2.5" square. So I stacked up 8 of them for the 1"X2"X1/2" bar NEOs from our host.

I cut the corners  off the washers to form an octigon. I used the magnet end caps from some small car speakers (5.25" to 6.5")  .

I drilled out the centers to .625" (5/8") and then taped them with 1/4"X20 as a way to ancher the armature to the shaft.

Also used the other steel part of the speakers magnet circut to make a retainer for the bearings.

I'll reasign wire conections of the motor tommorow. I'll do some pix and a more detailed description when complete and tested.

I'm hoping the bar magnets work as well as the extinked #29 curved NEOs?

what section of the store has bearings at lowes--been there a few times and could

never find any--the workers there didnt seem to know what a bearing was-block-pillow-or insert--might have to hit a machine shop......

those thicker mags should give you more power even thou  they dont have the best

magnetic field as your curved mags..then again if your curved mags had the power to tottaly saturate the coils with the size of wire on the lams--who knows--

might have to go with larger size wire to get the most out of your bigger mags..

 just my 2 fluxs worth...............

Hi Hiker.

The bearings at Lowes are in the nut & bolt section of the hardware section.

They have a bunch of those pull out drawers for special hardware.

The label on the pakage reads as follows.

ARG-TEST replacement links, this pakage contains

               99502-H-.625"/15.88mm BORE

               DOUBLE SEAL FOR ACE PUMP

Thats one side of the pakage the other side says.

               HILLMAN#881746       152272

               then the bar code

              0    80358  96406    3

                99502-H       QTY:1

           MADE IN CHINA/TAIWAN  K10

The thin cardboard label on the plastic bag is light blue and the AGR letters are red.

These are $5.97 each.   The 5/8" shaft is on the next isle or 2.
