8" dual rotor saw blade alt.
« on: December 29, 2005, 10:35:03 AM »
just another ongoing adventure...

stator[1/2"][star] made with insulated wire[don"t tell me i know]-100 turns- one coil mag wire..you can see the diffrense..[ran out of insulated wire]

one rotor powered by double stacked neo"s-next by double stacked ceramics -wraped with nylon tape..[keeps them from going south] ;}

60 open volts when powered by a hand drill.

turned out nice and lite-burned out a couple of headlites on my first test-trigger happy..will try the blades[8ft sweep] from my 12"rotor alt on it--just make a adapter to fit the shaft-3/4" down to 5/8"s[nylon tape.why not]--the holes in the coils were made for the neo"s--kinda small for the ceramics,--when i first built this it was powered by ceramics 12 and 12..

it does turn a little harder by  hand now with the neo"s--i guess the real test will come when i get it up and flying..my drill just dosen"t have the guts past 12amps..

thats what it shows with the alt shorted to a auto amp meter..[drill slows way down]

  the 12" alt in the background still has more power-48 double stacked ceramic mags.

starts up at a lower speed even thou it has only 87 winds per coil-and more amps -thicker wire..but its heavy-needs some kind of yawn bearing[hard to track the wind]

or just get a bigger pipe to mount over the  mast instead of in side the mast..ps: used two saw blades  for each rotor..still a small amout of magnatizem on back side. guess it would have helped to have a picture of it. with both rotors on........thats later.

more updates ---------------------later.
