wind
« on: October 10, 2006, 11:02:37 PM »

About two years ago I got bitten by the possibility of wind/solar

power.  So--built a small genny, 5ft blades, at 30 ft centre.  Powered

a GM alt.   It made power!  Bitten again.  Bought some big neo rings,

and started rewinding.  More power!  Bitten again.  Learned lots, (from this board), made changes.  More power!  Bitten again.

Blades are now the (definitely) limiting factor.  So, with the help of the info on this board, I will build bigger, better.

Goal is to someday in the future to tell the Utility company to take

away the power pole.

What was a distant dream, is now possible.  Three 10 footers, and

some Solar, and I think I can do it.

    Till that happens,

    Thanks bj

Yes, just haven't got them resized small enough to suit

the requirements.  I am learning however.  Still owe Vawtman a

couple if photos as well.  Coming.  The banshie shreak on this

thing might get better, with one less blade.  Should not be a

problem to mount them at 72 degrees.  Might even enlarge the

centre mount about 4 inches, as the torgue would be good, but

could also allow more cooling the PM.   Haven't had a failure,

but, did try the hand test one day, (I hate heights)It was quite

warm.  Three seconds, and my hands are not at all sensitive.

When I get the pics thing figured out, will post.

    It has been fun.

    Thanks to all,
