Stats for a well tuned car
« on: October 21, 2006, 11:52:41 AM »
Good Morning,

I am trying to work on a little project for work.  I want to be able to make some flyers that show the benefits to the environment from having a well tuned vehicle as opposed to one that needs attention.  Does anybody have any figures that I could include about emissions and/or fuel economy, or does anyone know where I can find these facts?  Thanks for your help!

Im guessing one simple fact is an untuned engine will use more fuel than a tuned one.

Not sure where you could find other facts though.

I am trying to find some figures that I can quote to try to open people's eyes.  I remember reading somewhere about how much gas is lost due to evaporation from leaky gas caps, I wish I could find that one again.  I know things like tire pressure, alignments, and an engine's state of tune all effect economy...but I need figures to show to the customers.  Thanks!

Thanks, stop.  I am going to check that out right now.  I have compiled quite a list of things so far, but I have to break it down into a simpler form and then decide on a format for it.  Just trying to do my little bit to help out the cause.

Perhaps a more impactifull topic would be Alternative Transportation.  Such as walking, biking or even.. the famous car pooling.  But are you just trying to talk to co'eds and have them tune their cars?  Or is this actually for your job?

Instinctz,

It will hopefully have two effects.  The first is to help reduce the emissions from vehicles on the road, helping to clean up the car.  The second, would be to help boost sales at the shop.  An added benefit for the customers would be a few extra green backs in their wallets at the pumps.  Their maybe another benefit...I never thought about the co'eds...LOL!
