Good Tutorial on Forklift Batteries
« on: December 15, 2006, 04:24:26 PM »
This is something i located when searching for information, I copied it to my web site and will share it with anyone. I want to keep it from getting spidered so this will be a bit of a pain (i.e. no simple cut and pasting of urls)

The base url is http  observatory   dot  attitude   net   slash  7_730_Motive_Power_Batteries_Manual_Nov_2006.pdf

It shows how to remove the connecting straps without destroying the batteries and shows how to service them as well as refurbishing them. It also shows you how to break up the   battery into individual cells.

I am sure others have this document as well but I learned alot from it and maybe someone else will too.

The url should be

http colon slash slash observatory dot attitude dot net slash  7_730_Motive_Power_Batteries_Manual_Nov_2006.pdf

this worked for me

Use a robots.txt file on your server.  That's what they're for.

Something like:

---------------

User-agent: *

Disallow: ApacheCamper

Disallow: Art163Fall1998Final

Disallow: manual

---------------

(Looking at the preview I see that Scoop dropped my forward slashes at the beginning and end of each directory name as part of its HTML cleaning.  Interesting.)

placed in the root of your htdocs directory (asssuming you're using Apache) will keep robots that respect robots.txt files out of those areas.  If your server logs show that those pages are getting spidered, you just need to change a single letter in the path name to go back to having it hidden.  The spiders will error out and hopefully eventually give up.

Now I get it: it removed the forward slashes and put the names in italics.  Duh.  Not filtering, just being helpful, except that I meant forward slashes.  Maybe double ones would work (//).

Dang I always try and keep open flames away from my batteries. Never had any luck repouring posts but never had the guts to use an open flame right on the battery post either. Hmmm still have those batteries with the bad posts.

Okay so the forklift battery has heavy duty 2v one cell lead/acid batteries tied together. If finding one of the forklift batteries is too difficult or expensive then why not just do what most folks do and use the 6v 3 cell golf cart batteries. They can be configured almost any way you want. If one goes bad then I bet it will cost less to replace than to replace one of those forklift battery cells faster and easier too. Sometimes we have to go with what is cost effective instead of what we consider ideal. <grin> You will find that living way out in the boonies on the cheap you get good at making do with what is available.
