Rectifier Wiring Help Please??
« on: January 04, 2007, 02:42:59 AM »
Hello,

I am building the "homebrew wooden alternator" on Other Power's website and need info on how to wire the bridge rectifier onto the two lines coming off the 18 coils hooked up to each other in series single phase.

I made a wind turbine from plans on picoturbine.com and hooked it up to rectifiers alright but it was in "star" confirguration and 3-phase.  Can someone tell me EXACTLY how to hook the two single phase wires up to the 4 spades off the rectifier?

Thank you!!

Mary

Mary,

The rectifier terminals will be marked.  Two opposite corners will either say "AC" or have a "~"(squiggly line) on them.  This is where the alternating current from the generator comes into the bridge.  These get connected to the two wires from the stator.  There's no polarity on these so either wire can go to either AC corner.

The two other corners will be marked "+" and "-".  These are the postive (+) and negative (-) DC terminals from the rectifier.

Hope this helps

Hello,

Thank you!!!!  I wasn't sure what to do with the second wire off the single phase and just leave it alone like in the "star" 3-phase or not.

Thank you!!!!
