Solar Stregnth
« on: April 19, 2007, 01:46:48 AM »
I have recently obtained around ten solar cells from solar lights and I am using them to make a hydrogen generator.  The generator works great but my question is if wiring the solar panels in series or in paralell will change the output of hydrogen.  Also, will voltage increase the hydrogen output?  What else can I do to make more hydrogen from the same amount of solar cells?

same number of watts either way. In series you get cell voltage times the number of cells at whatever the cells current rating. Paralell you get cell voltage at the cell current times the number of cells.

what you are looking for is low voltage high amperage.

it only takes about 1.5 volts to split water.

there is a lot of info on this subject at http://www.hydropowercar.com

Thanks for your help and the website!  I will use the information to help build the generator.
