Roof Turbons for electrical power
« on: November 18, 2007, 03:43:42 AM »
I am wanting to use four turbons on my roof (the type that are used to keep the atic cooled down) with longer shafts to try to generate some of the power we use at home. I am an electrician with 26 years exp. with mostly A/C but som D/C in telecomunications applications. I cant get my mind around how to do this and it work properly. Any comments would be appreciated.

Thanks

Not a good idea. First the size of those turbines aren't big enough to really generate any usable electricity, and if you did put a properly sized generator on them, you'd still slow them down if not stop them therefore limiting the job they are intended to do, which is get the hot air out of your attic.

I concur, I do not think you will generate much useful power out of them, and any power generated will also impede their original intended function.  Rich
