Hello Windy,
Have one yellow top Opitma battery.
Use for backup power only: RV well pump, lighting. Three years old, sat 4 months. Did a load test on it, 5ahr. Not very good, charged it up. 20ah, 5 cycles later back up in the 40's ah. Expected better. Now try to cycle it every other month. Which reminds me it time.
While using HFT 15amp charger, it gets confused by the battery and cooked it three times now (140F battery terminal temp, NOT good). Other deep cycle batteries work fine with the charger.
The battery was bought from Costco for $188, required sealed battery for an application. I acquired battery after it was used for a couple weeks. Demo.
Unless you have a real need for sealed battery (SLA) I would not recommended it for storage due to its cost. Year before I bough 8 golf cart batteries for $57 ea (now $70?).
The Opitma battery is rated at 55at at 12v. Golf cart is 225ah at 6v.
Much better storage for your $.
Even adding in an automatic watering system and vent tubs simulates a SLA for half cost.
Have fun,
Scott.
