TSR? for ED.
« on: December 25, 2006, 03:56:33 AM »
I had asked you what the TSR was for my blade at 46 inches then you said between 6 to 7 TSR.  But if you don't mind what would be the TSR at 49 and 61 inches.

Same root angle of 23 degrees and just a coulpe degrees at the tip?

Thanks ED or anyone that has the answer.

            Merry Christmas.

With a 2 degree tip angle you probably looking at a TSR of around 6 for either the 49 or 61" blades.

  What are you working on?

Hi Ed.

Nice of you to respond on Christmas. I'm building a 4 ft Hugh machine. I'm building it to his specs.

A freind is carving the blades for it as per Hughs instructions. I'm setting up a small wind tunnel test and wish to compair preformance of several styles of 4 ft blades.

I will also be evaluateing several diferant styles of stators. I purchased his book and the magnets from our hosts. I've collected all the materials, now just to find the time for assembly and testing.

I belive Hugh says his recemended carved wood blade has a TSR of 5. I think TSR of 5 is to have an earlyer startup then a TSR of 6?

I hope to do these test over the next few months?

Thanks again for your help and have a very nice Christmas.
