source for rectifiers
« on: January 15, 2008, 01:50:46 PM »
Does anyone have a good source for rectifiers? How about in canada? I want one for the 24 volt piggot wind turbine. What does one use for the cooling?

You won't be satisfied by what you can find at Radio Shack (sorry, "the source", what an idiotic name for a store).

Track down stores that cater to electronics specifically.  Here in Calgary, I frequent Active Electronics and MRO Electronics.  They may have other branches in other Canadian cities, whichever one you may be in.

Cooling:  scavenge heat sinks.  The bigger the better.

No one believes the theory except the one who developed it. Everyone believes the experiment except the one who ran it.

Mouser Electronics, Newark Electronics, and Digi-Key Electronics should all be good sources.

You can get large diodes cheap on Ebay. I don't even bother selling them anymore because they brings so little. Look for stud mount or high power packs. 200 plus AMPs are very common. I use at least 10X the rating for the max current I expect to put through the diodes but since they don't cost me anything...
