14-11 stator update.
« on: November 12, 2008, 05:12:19 AM »
I cast the powdered iron in the 14-11 coil stator form today. It turned out real nice.

I hope to check for cogging tommorow. I think I mixed about a 25% iron amount?

Heres a picture.

I'll report results when there in. I held a ceramic magnet very close. There was just a small atraction.

This is what I wanted. Just enough to enhance the flux path in the air gap a littel.

PS if this works I'll cut the iron out and enlarge the holes for the coils and then poure the iron in the coil centers.

Looks sweet!

So the cores will be IN the coils, not just under them right?

The small iron mix % could offer a reasonable improvement while adding only barely noticable iron losses.

Thanks for posting this and I look foward to your results!

Oh - see your 2nd post you say IN the coils if works - cool.

And what did you use for your iron poweder material?  Brake shavings?
