glad you took the first step. it looks just great, and a 6 foot set of blades is a nice size for some good power production.
i should post a pic of my first unit. yours looks a lot better than mine did. i bought one of those 38volt dc motors made by Redmond at princess auto for $9.00. then made a one piece 2 blade prop at 2 foot diam. only thing i had connected to it was an auto tail light bulb. it did light it occasionally. i even used a tomatoe can for weather protection of the motor.
i think a nice match for your blades would be a 1/2 hp 180 volt permnanent magnet motor. it is a good step above a tdm and is on the industrial side of duty. you often see them on ebay and often very very cheap. look for 1/2hp, pm,180 volt armature. they usually come with what is called a c-flange and mounting feet. the shaft is 5/8 inch diam, and the frame is refered to as "frame 56".
all you need is a blocker diode and you are charging a batt.
