i guess there is a law stronger than Betz`s law - Murphy`s law.

build a wind mascine and the wind will run away :-)

Your next step in the Murphy wind law, even more aggrivating; Wind blows, you run out, generator is turning, run back in get meter, run back out hook up meter.... wind stops, leave meter outside(so you don't have to waste time hooking up) misteroius rain cloud comes out of no-where soaks meter. That's if your dum enough (that's me) to make all your connections outside!!!! Duh

Keep the faith the wind will blow ..... someday! :->

Hi hiker.

No I just work on it a littel here, a littel there. Time a rare comotity (sp?).

When the wind did blow, what kinda power are you getting out of your 8" dual rotor? What is the blade diameter?

I'll stop the wind for awhile as soon as I get mine done.

Hiker, is your mill a duel rotor unit? If it is, and the wind starts blowing and the mill doesn't start, could be ice between the stator and the rotors. Dan and Ed have jumped the rectifiers for a few seconds (backfed to heat up the stator slightly). No sence doing that tho till you get decent wind to do some charging... I'd be willing to send some of the wind gusts of 40 mph plus we've had your way if I could... Nice pics. Looks like slippery driving conditions!   Gary D.

it lights up a couple of 50watt headlights just a little past slow speed on the hand drill[all i have -blew out the rest]..100 winds per coil 9-12-star-kinda light wire..

not sure of the size19-20?--don"t need a whole lot of power -its just for the motorhome

the blades had a 8'sweep -i chopped that down to a 7'4"sweep  for the 8"alt-they were made for my 12"rotor alt-but its a bit heavy to hang on the small pipe[will use a pipe over pipe on that one]--strange thing it takes more power from the drill to light up the same bulbs[after i added neo"s]most likly because the coils are more energerized.

the drill with just ceramics lite up the same bulbs at a slower speed-with the neo"s

it took more power from the drill to do the same-so i should have a few more amps with the neo"s--lose out somwhat on a slower start up with the neo"s but more power..

So that is where the snow and cold went.  After a short spell of cold weather here, it has been in the balmy 40's and even hit in the 50's a couple of days.  January has been much warmer than average thus far, not that I am complaining.  Rich

If you are going to use a shadow like that for your text, you may want to try using a white stroke arround the letters.
